The new issue of Numero Berlin is dedicated to luxury. Produced and published during the COVID-19 pandemic, the global events gave the world more thought during the extreme times, and for us to give an inspirational introspection of the current climate. The theme of this issue, which we chose before the COVID-19 pandemic reached the global stage, especially challenged us to think about what really matters and where we want to be heading in the near and far future. We started asking what the true modern luxury of tomorrow is. Interviews, essays, and explosive visuals explore what true luxury means for the masses, the modern ideal of luxury and luxury as a form of expression. From the future of luxury leisure travel, Alicia Kwades’ conceptual minimalist art, the history and importance of the high heel, tulips as the first economic crash, a retrospective of Alexander McQueen and his ‘Highland Rape’ collection, a poetic interview with Kelsey Lu, the beauty in architecture, goddess of destruction Azealia Banks and much more. The special artist book is by Kia Labeija.
